Honey Bee Products Bee Pollen Royal Jelly

New Zealand Royal Jelly 100 Capsules
Code: Royal Jelly
Weight: 0.10
Price: $27.66
Quantity in Basket: none
Deep Blue Royal Jelly is produced solely for feeding the queen bee. Deep Blue Royal Jelly contains all the B-complex vitamins, including a high concentration of pantothenic acid (B5). It is a natural source of acetylcholine which plays a role in memory, learning and sexual function.

Royal Jelly is the queen bee’s only source of food. It is a blend of two secretions from the salivary glands of the worker bee. Royal Jelly is a creamy-white substance with extraordinary food value, often called “milk of bees”, and she must be in the best of health to keep producing more bees.

As a natural health supplement, Royal Jelly is a concentrated source of amino acids, lipids, carbohydrates as well as natural hormones, minerals, B Vitamins, folic acid, fatty acids and acetylcholine. All the essential elements are available for tissue regeneration and growth in the body.

It has been proved that 50-100 mg of Royal Jelly taken daily can assist in decreasing cholesterol levels up to 14% and serum lipids level up to 10% (Donohoe, 1997).

The most unique feature of Royal Jelly is its hydroxy fatty acids (collectively known as 10HDA). These fatty acids are responsible for the biological properties of Royal Jelly: there are a number of studies showing Royal Jelly stimulates growth rates and metabolism.

Each soft gel capsule contains Royal Jelly as equivalent to (6% Active 10 HDA) 1000mg, Vitamin E 5mg, Beewax 50mg, Lecithin 20mg and other ingredients of encapsulating material.

Bee products provide the key for powerful, active natural health solutions. Bee Pollen is a natural and pure form of sustained energy.

One of nature’s most complete foods, it contains twenty two basic elements found in the human body, enzymes, hormones, vitamins, amino acids and others that must be renewed by nutrient intake. Bee pollen contains bio available iron seven times greater than beef, 50% more muscle building protein than beef and is a valuable source of calcium with double the calcium of milk.

Pollen is high in Vitamin A, in fact higher in vitamin A than all common foods except tomatoes. Vitamins B Thiamin, Riboflavin and Niacin and bioflavonoids the powerful antioxidants that combat free radical activity associated with conditions such as cardiovascular disease, arthritis, cancer, diabetes and poor liver function as well as Parkinson’s and Alzheimers disease. The United States Department of Agriculture has given Bee pollen an antioxidant rating eight times higher than the highest tested raw vegetable.

Bee Pollen has been clinically proven to provide relief from hay fever symptoms. There are no scientific links between respiratory allergies to atmospheric pollen and food based pollen or bee venom allergies and ingested pollen. The New Zealand Health Department has recommended a health warning, In some people this product may cause an allergic reaction, so we advise testing and building up dosage as one would with any new food.

Numerous energy experts and athletes have credited bee pollen supplementation with greatly improved levels of performance and stamina in endurance building regimes. Bee pollen has the unique ability to aid your body in generating more and more energy as demand increases. A two-year research project conducted by Olympic coach Remi Korchemny of New York Pratt Institute undisputedly credits bee pollen to significant raised energy and stamina levels.

Active Manuka Honey UMF 10+
Code: Active Manuka Honey
Weight: 0.60
Price: $48.95
Quantity in Basket: none
500g
Active UMF10+ Manuka Honey has a special anti-bacterial activity called Unique Manuka Factor (UMF). Laboratory research has shown that the UMF and hydrogen peroxide found in this honey kills bacteria and fungi found in wounds and stomach ulcers. All Honey New Zealand Active UMF 10+ Honey products have been tested and certified by independent laboratories. What is 'Active Honey?'
Honey's anti-bacterial activity has been recognised since 1550 B.C by the ancient Egyptians. This anti- bacterial activity can vary widely in potency. The difference between varying honeys, anti-bacterial activity can be more than 100 fold. Honey contains hydrogen peroxide which is the reason why it can have anti-bacterial activity. Laboratory testing is required to establish the level of anti-bacterial activity in honey. The honey is compared with a standard reference antiseptic (phenol) for potency. So, for example, a honey with a rating of four would be equivalent in antiseptic potency to a four percent solution of phenol (carbolic disinfectant). Honey should have a rating of four or higher before it can be regarded as a 'Active Honey'. Laboratory tests have shown to be very effective against bacteria, the rating should be at least ten but does not need to be any greater.
Honey New Zealand produces a range of Active Honeys: Manuka, Rewarewa and Wild Flora.
What does UMF mean?
Manuka honey has UMF (this stands for Unique Manuka Factor) in addition to the usual hydrogen peroxide anti-bacterial activity making it doubly potent. UMF honey is more effective than hydrogen peroxide against some types of bacteria.
The level of UMF activity is found in laboratory testing by removing the hydrogen peroxide from the honey and using the same test method for testing an 'active honey'. A rating is found describing the anti-bacterial activity remaining in the honey after the hydrogen peroxide has been removed. This is called Active UMF 10+. UMF is an additional anti-bacterial component that is unique to Manuka Honey. No-one for the scientific discoveries of New Zealand active honeys has so far discovered the substance involved, so it is called UMF.
Does honey have other forms of activity?
Both Rewarewa and Wild Flora Honeys have been identified with both anti-bacterial and anti-oxidant activity. Researchers have used a ESR technique (using spectrometry) to demonstrate that both of these honeys are similar to fruit in anti-oxidant capability. This approach involves using Vitamin E as a standard for how these honeys compare to other products in their ability to absorb free radicals. Free radicals are responsible for causing cell damage in the body. Acknowledgement
Dr Peter Molan and his University of Waikato research team have been investigating the anti-bacterial and anti-oxidant properties of honey for more than fifteen years and have been responsible. 500g jar. Manuka Flower.

New Zealand Pohutukawa Honey- 500g
Code: HNZPohutukawa
Weight: 0.60
Price: $12.00
Quantity in Basket: none
Honey New Zealand's Pohutukawa Honey is creamy with a clean butterscotch flavour unique to New Zealand. The Pohutukawa, with its masses of brilliant crimson to deep red flowers at Christmas time, is known as the New Zealand Christmas tree. Nectar, produced in the base of these flowers, is a favourite of the honey-bee. Pohutukawa (Metrosideros excelsa)
Family: Myrtaceae

Commonly known as "The New Zealand Christmas Tree". Around Christmas-time it smothers itself with masses of brilliant crimson to deep blood-red flowers. The pohutukawa is one of the most spectacular trees of the world. These great trees with their masses of scarlet bloom, will reach a height of over 20m and a spread of 13m.

The Maori use to collect its nectar for food and to treat sore throats. It was sucked out through a reed, but you can easily poke your tongue into the flower to taste the nectar.

The viscous nectar stored in the base of the flower is a favourite of the honey-bee producing a tasteful honey:

An infusion of its inner bark was used to cure dysentery and diarrhoea - pohutukawa contains ellagic acid, which is effective in treating these ailments.

FACT BOX Variety: Pohutukawa Appearance: Off white Flavour: Clean, earthy, sweet, butterscotch

The deep red timber is extremely strong durable and hard wearing, used from the earliest time of European settlement for boatbuilding.

The pohutukawa grows naturally around the coasts of the Auckland and Coromandel Peninsulas and the Bay of Plenty. Normally they are found not far from the shores of the sea or of some inland lakes where they grow in seemingly impossible places on cliffsides, anchored by their stout twisted roots and putting forth massive branches that hang downwards towards the water or even dip into the water itself.

The petals are small and hairy-backed, the most conspicuous part of the flower being the crimson-stalked stamens which may reach 5cm in length. Each ring of stamens surrounds a calyx funnel filled to overflowing with a viscous nectar that is much sought after by honey-bees and birds. Flowers appear in December and January and the seeds ripen by the following spring. Pohutukawa Flower
